When there is a problem with a sewer line in the community, who is responsible?

Community association professionals and board members may be acutely familiar with the various maintenance responsibilities that an association has within a community but, how many know whose responsibility it is to maintain, repair and replace the underground sewer lines? Though you may not think about the underground sewer lines on a daily basis, they are vitally important to the effective transport of sewage from the homes in your community. So when a homeowner calls you and says they are having a sewer line problem, what should you do?


Board Removal - Never Easy, Sometimes Complex

We have seen a slight uptick in the number of petitions for removal of a director submitted to community associations recently.  While we don’t know the exact reasons for this, and there may be many, community associations have significant obligations and short deadlines when a petition is received.  Scott Carpenter addressed this in one of our newsletters in 2005 when the legislature first passed the bill that provided a standardized process for director removal efforts in community associations in Arizona.
